Ronnie Schob

Ronnie Schob is a Professor of Economics at the Free University of Berlin, with a focus on labor market policy, tax theory and taxation, reform of the welfare state, environmental economics and resource economics.

Ronnie was Schöb Chair Professor of Financial Science at the Otto von Guericke - University of Magdeburg. There, together with his colleague Joachim Weimann, he developed the “Magdeburg Alternative”, a proposal to reduce unemployment while reducing costs in the federal budget .

Till date, he continues to hold a research professorship at the IFO Institute Dresden and his research interests include happiness, labor economics, general public economics, reforming the welfare state, optimal taxation, environmental and resource economics. His research has been published in Inter Alia, the Economic Journal, European Economic Review, Economics Letters, Oxford Economic Papers, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management and Scandinavian Journal of Economics.
