Shaukat Azizis

Shaukat Azizis a Pakistani economist and financier. Shaukat is a graduate of the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.

In 1969, Shaukat became a corporate staff of the CitiBank Pakistan. In 1999, he was appointed to become the executive vice president of the CitiBank Pakistan. From 1999 to 2007, became the Minister of Finance for Pakistan. During his tenure, Pakistan’s economy experienced steady growth,and a massive drop in the rate of poverty. The then Finance Minister also oversaw a period of great development and increase in the nation’s reserves.

In 2004, he became the 17th Prime Minister of Pakistan, a position which he held until 2007. Shaukat ensured privatization of corporations owned by the State in order to improve efficiency. During his tenure, Pakistan’s infrastructure and GDP tremendously grew.
