William Dawbney Nordhaus

William Dawbney Nordhaus, best known for his work in Environmental economics was bornin Albuquerque, New Mexico. His work in economic modeling and climate change made him one of the laureates of the 2018 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. He received this prize as a result of his work “for integrating climate change into long-run macroeconomic analysis”.

Norhaus got his Ph.D. from MIT in 1967, the same year he also became a member of the Faculty of Yale having bagged his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Yale. He has also served in administrative capacities in the University as its Provost and also as the Vice President for Finance and Administration.

William Nordhaus is also an author. He has written and edited well over 20 books some in the field of economics while others in areas of global warming and climate change. Because of his vast experience and contributions to the field of economics, Nordhaus was designated a Distinguished Fellow of the American Economic Association, a Member of the United States National Academy of Sciences and since 1999 has been a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences amongst other many notable awards.
